Iskandar Captures Kolkata Crown

Malaysia's new world No15 Mohd Azlan Iskandar boosted his chances of a further rise up the world rankings after a comfortable straight games victory in the final of the Kolkata International in the former Indian capital.

The Sarawak-born 23-year-old top seed, who dropped only one game en-route to the final, needed 52 minutes to quash his Canadian opponent Shahier Razik, the third seed, 11-6 11-7 11-3.

The triumph marks Iskandar's seventh career PSA Tour title - and follows swiftly on the success the UK-based Malaysian achieved last month when he picked up the PNG International crown in Papua New Guinea.

Razik, the 27-year-old world No36 from Toronto, reached the final after upsetting Australia's Cameron Pilley in a marathon five-game semi-final.
