Krajcsak Crowned Hithercroft Champion

5 Oct 2009

Mark Krajcsak captured the Hithercroft Open crown in England at the weekend - but the top-ranked Hungarian had to fight back from two games down to beat home hope Robbie Temple in the final of the PSA Tour Super Satellite squash event at Hithercroft Squash Club in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

The 25-year-old from Budapest had already overcome three Englishmen on his way to the final - beating fourth seed Ben Ford in a four-game semi-final.

But it was a 105-minute marathon that left-hander Temple endured in the other semi-final - the 23-year-old from Gloucester edging out compatriot Shaun le Roux, the No3 seed, 11-8, 18-16, 4-11, 8-11, 11-9.

However, London-based Temple showed no signs of the effect of his earlier battle as he moved two games up in the final. But crafty Krajcsak, ranked 41 in the world - 25 places higher than his opponent - reclaimed the momentum to record his 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 victory, and notch up the seventh PSA Tour title of his career.

Final:
[1] Mark Krajcsak (HUN) bt [2] Robbie Temple (ENG) 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9
