Razik Reaches Vancouver Semis

17 Jan 2009

Canadian Shahier Razik is one win away from his third successive appearance in the final of the Comfort Inn Open after beating New Zealand qualifier Campbell Grayson in the quarter-finals of the $20,000 PSA Tour squash event at Evergreen Squash Club in Vancouver, Canada.

The 31-year-old from Toronto came from a game down to defeat Grayson 3-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-2 - and will carry the nation's hopes single-handedly when he faces Tarek Momen for a place in the final.

The third-seeded Egyptian beat Mexico's No8 seed Arturo Salazar 11-7, 11-4, 15-13.

There will be Egyptian interest in the other semi-final when Mohammed Abbas takes on England's Daryl Selby. But the second seed from Giza had to come back from a game down before overcoming USA's fifth seed Julian Illingworth 4-11, 15-13, 11-2, 11-7 in a 77-minute marathon.
