Galifi Takes Turin Title

26 Oct 2008

Stephane Galifi stormed to his third title in five events since returning to the PSA Tour after a three-year absence when he beat fellow Frenchman Yann Perrin in the final of the Turin Open at the Squash City Club in the Italian city of Turin.

Seeded five, the 30-year-old from Aix-en-Provence made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals of the $6,000 Super Satellite event when he defeated second-seeded compatriot Gregoire Marche 11-3, 15-13, 13-11.

Perrin, the fourth seed, secured the place in his second Tour final after upsetting top seed Jens Schoor, from Germany, in the semis.

But Galifi was too strong for the Marseille 23-year-old in the final, winning 11-1, 11-4, 11-7 in 44 minutes to net the sixth PSA title of his career.

Final:
[5] Stephane Galifi (FRA) bt [4] Yann Perrin (FRA) 11-1, 11-4, 11-7 (44m)
