WISPA Discussions Lead Tournament Promoter To Revert To Standard Scoring

Potential confusion concerning a change in scoring in the women's game has been averted following the decision by promoters internationalSPORTgroup to revert to the 'standard' system for the women's event being staged as part of the forthcoming Gerrard British Grand Prix, to be held from 8th to 11th September at the National Squash Centre in Manchester.
"Andrew Shelley explained to me that using PAR to 11 points would cause confusion, so I am happy to stick with normal scoring for our matches at the Gerrard Grand Prix to avoid this," said event promoter Paul Walters today following discussions with the WISPA Chief Executive.
Shelley added: "While we continually review all the WISPA Tour rules, including scoring, there are no plans to experiment with scoring imminently.
"So, although the Gerrard British Grand Prix is not a WISPA Tour event, we are very pleased that promoter Paul Walters has agreed that standard scoring, as used by WISPA and the recreational game generally, will be used at this high-profile event."
